Edward Williams is a licensed counselor based in Lutherville, Maryland, who has been practicing since 2023 and providing mental health and substance use counseling throughout the Baltimore region. He currently works with two organizations—primarily based with Oriented Healthcare LLC —where he supports a diverse range of clients facing challenges related to mental health, addiction, and life transitions. His work spans multiple populations, including adolescents, adults, geriatric clients, individuals involved with the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS), and those seeking recovery from substance use disorders. Mr. Williams draws from several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), while grounding his practice in a humanistic model that prioritizes empathy, collaboration, and personal growth. Throughout his career and training, he has worked with individuals dealing with a wide variety of challenges, including addiction, eating disorders, and the incarcerated reentry population. His professional experience includes providing care across multiple levels of treatment, including outpatient programs (OP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), partial hospitalization programs (PHP), and residential (RES) treatment settings. While Mr. Williams works with a broad range of clients, he has a particular passion for supporting adolescents and young adults as they navigate critical stages of personal and emotional development. Beyond the therapy room, he is actively engaged in community outreach and public speaking, participating in soup kitchens and organizational meetings to raise awareness about mental health—especially men’s mental health. He has also collaborated with community groups to discuss the connections between mental health, financial literacy, and career development, helping individuals build healthier and more stable futures.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

Honestly, I just enjoy helping people. When I was growing up, I was always the "go-to" friend; as I got older, I would become the person that strangers would walk up to and initiate conversations with, and I would engage. That natural inclination to help people work through their challenges has always been part of who I am, and it's what I enjoy most about being a therapist today. As my colleagues and friends would say, "Edward, you really love your job".
