Dona Bremser, LPN
Dona Bremser is an experienced nursing leader and Director of Nursing at Heritage Communities, where she oversees healthcare operations within a large assisted living and memory support community. With 27 years in healthcare—including 19 years as a nurse—she manages a 115-apartment community and leads a team of more than 30 associates. Known for her hands-on leadership style, Bremser remains actively involved in both clinical care and operational oversight, ensuring residents receive high-quality, compassionate care while maintaining strong team performance.
Bremser’s career reflects a steady progression built on determination and a deep understanding of patient care. She began as a CNA immediately after high school, advanced to a medication aide, and later earned her LPN license to expand her impact in the field. Her experience spans nursing homes, over a decade in clinical settings, and five years specializing in cardiology before returning to geriatrics in a leadership capacity. This diverse background allows her to bring a well-rounded, practical perspective to her role, balancing clinical expertise with administrative insight.
In addition to her leadership responsibilities, Bremser is committed to professional development and education within her team. She holds certifications as an infection control preventionist, Montessori dementia practitioner, and certified dementia practitioner, and is also authorized by the state of Nebraska to teach medication aide courses. Passionate about mentorship, she actively supports the growth of her staff—whether advancing within their current roles or preparing for future opportunities—while fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous learning.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
Just getting to meet different people and hearing their life stories, and them coming back and thanking me for just taking that extra 5 minutes to listen to them, even if it had nothing to do with what they wanted to originally talk to me about. That's probably my favorite thing about being a nurse.
