Dina Johnson, MS, MFT-LP

Dina Johnson, MS MFT-LP, is a dedicated marriage and family therapist, small business owner, and community leader based in Rochester, New York. As President and CEO of Monroe County Family Coalition, Inc., she has spent the last several years developing programs that strengthen families, support youth, and foster collaboration between community organizations and local government. With a focus on trauma, grief, complex PTSD, and severe mental illnesses, Dina brings a compassionate, practical, and solution-focused approach to therapy, guided by the philosophy that “the problem is the problem, not the person.”

Throughout her career, Dina has leveraged her clinical expertise and research background to address the intersection of mental health, social inequities, and systemic barriers. She has worked extensively with underserved communities, criminal justice populations, and youth at risk, using narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and strength-based interventions to empower individuals and families. Beyond direct clinical work, she has served as a consultant and volunteer in multiple educational and research initiatives, helping to shape programs that improve rehabilitation, intervention, and wellness outcomes across diverse populations.

She earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and holds certifications in gerontology and intensive family therapy. Through her work, Dina continues to champion equity, access, and sustainable mental health solutions, inspiring the next generation of therapists to lead with knowledge, compassion, and action.
