Denyse Flynn, RN
Denyse Flynn, RN, is a seasoned Registered Nurse with 38 years of clinical experience, licensed since 1988. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from the College of Staten Island, part of the City University of New York. Denyse began her career in high-acuity hospital environments, dedicating 25 years to Surgical Intensive Care Units (SICU), Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACU), and Emergency Departments within Level I trauma centers across Manhattan and Staten Island, where she developed exceptional clinical judgment and resilience under pressure.
Throughout her hospital career, Denyse built advanced expertise in triage, ventilator management, central line and port access, IV therapy, complex wound care, and advanced cardiac life support. Her certifications include BLS, ACLS, AED, NRP, IV insertion, and PICC line management. Known for her calm presence and clinical precision, she consistently delivered skilled, compassionate care to critically ill and trauma patients during their most vulnerable moments.
Expanding her scope beyond acute care, Denyse transitioned into ambulatory and outpatient services, high-tech home infusion nursing, and leadership roles. As a Home Infusion RN with the Visiting Nurse Association of Staten Island, she managed complex IV therapies, wound vac placement, and coordinated care directly with physicians. She later served as an RN/Health and Wellness Coach with Premise Health, integrating preventive care, chronic disease management, and lifestyle counseling. In her leadership role as Registered Nurse/Care Team Supervisor at Advantage Care Physicians of Staten Island, she supported clinical staff, oversaw medication protocols, facilitated prior authorizations, and assisted with specialized GI procedures to ensure safe and efficient patient outcomes.
Currently, Denyse serves as a School Nurse with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, working in a newly renovated school clinic on Staten Island. Over the past two years, she has focused on triage, medication administration, immunization compliance, and chronic condition management among students. She maintains active nursing licenses in both New York and Pennsylvania and is a member of the New York State Nurses Association.
Beyond clinical practice, Denyse’s career reflects a deep commitment to holistic health and wellness. She previously owned and operated a martial arts studio and a fitness studio, reinforcing her passion for physical fitness, discipline, and preventive care. Having recently purchased a home in Temple, Pennsylvania, she hopes to transition into a preventive or holistic nursing role in that area. Guided by compassion, positivity, and a strong work ethic, Denyse remains dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to live active, healthy lives at every stage.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the opportunity to continually grow, challenge myself, and strive for excellence in everything I do. A comment my son once made has always stayed with me: when I set my mind to something, I go all the way and become the best at it. That observation deeply resonated with me and continues to motivate and define my professional journey. I approach nursing with that same level of commitment, determination, and pride in delivering the highest standard of care.
I also recognize the evolving landscape of healthcare as both a challenge and an opportunity. The increasing emphasis on BSN credentials over extensive clinical experience can be difficult for seasoned nurses who bring decades of hands-on expertise. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity in nurse-led health coaching, preventive medicine, and fitness-integrated care—areas that align closely with my passion for holistic wellness. While specialty IV and infusion roles may be limited locally, I remain driven to apply my skills in innovative settings where experience, leadership, and preventive care can make a meaningful impact.
