Denise Ware

Denise Ware is a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with more than 36 years of experience in healthcare, known for her versatility, clinical expertise, and compassionate patient care. She graduated from Hill Country Memorial Hospital’s nursing program in 1988–1989, where she was selected as one of only ten students admitted—a distinction that marked the beginning of a lifelong career in nursing. Her healthcare journey began as an OB Technician, where her natural ability to care for patients and encouragement from colleagues inspired her to pursue nursing professionally.

Following graduation, Denise built an extensive career with Ascension Seton in Austin, Texas, where she served for 21 years. For 18 of those years, she worked in the agency pool, gaining broad clinical experience across multiple specialties, including trauma, plastics, orthopedics, neurology, cardiac care, Medical ICU, Surgery ICU, and emergency departments. During this time, she completed IV therapy certification and developed exceptional phlebotomy skills, earning a reputation for her ability to successfully perform difficult blood draws and provide high-quality patient care in fast-paced clinical environments.

Since 2022, Denise has worked at a nursing home in Fredericksburg, Texas, located just minutes from her home. There, she serves as the primary lab resource, frequently assisting colleagues with challenging blood draws, particularly among elderly patients with difficult veins. Her decades of hospital experience continue to benefit both patients and staff, and she remains deeply passionate about caring for others. Denise’s career reflects dedication, adaptability, and a genuine love for nursing that has guided her throughout more than three decades in healthcare.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What first drew me to nursing was working with babies in the nursery as an OB Technician. The nurses I worked with recognized that I had a natural ability for patient care and encouraged me to pursue nursing school. Over the past 36 years, that passion for caring for others has only grown. Today, I specialize in phlebotomy and IV therapy, particularly with elderly patients, and at the nursing home where I currently work, I serve as the primary lab resource. I take pride in being able to locate veins that others find difficult and ensuring patients receive the care they need. I truly love this field, and my dedication to helping others is what keeps me motivated after all these years.
