Denise Noto MSN, RN, C-EFM
Denise Noto, MSN, RN, C-EFM (she/her), is a Nursing Clinical Instructor and Family Birth Center Registered Nurse at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut. With nearly three decades of experience in maternal-child health, Denise brings a deep commitment to education, mentorship, and compassionate, evidence-based care. She currently serves as an adjunct clinical instructor for multiple universities across Connecticut, guiding nursing students through hands-on clinical experiences in labor and delivery, maternity, newborn, pediatric, and public health settings while maintaining active bedside practice.
Denise’s nursing journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan, which laid the foundation for her clinical expertise. Early in her career, she participated in AmeriCorps VISTA, working at a birth center along the U.S.–Mexico border in Weslaco, Texas. There, she provided comprehensive prenatal, birth, postpartum, pediatric, and home-visit care to a predominantly Spanish-speaking population. Mentored by Certified Nurse Midwives and experienced nurses, many of whom were also practicing nuns, this formative experience ignited her lifelong passion for women’s health, midwifery, and culturally responsive care. She later completed a midwifery program in Miami and went on to practice in both hospital and birth-center environments.
After earning a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Western Governors University, Denise has focused on shaping the next generation of nurses. Fluent in Spanish, she uses her language skills daily to advocate for and support diverse patient populations. Her professional philosophy centers on trust, mindfulness, teamwork, and respect—believing that birth can be a profoundly empowering experience when care is attentive, collaborative, and rooted in safety. Through her dual roles as educator and clinician, Denise is dedicated to fostering confident practitioners and ensuring positive, meaningful birth experiences for patients and families alike.
