Delila Jamison, LVN
Delila Jamison is a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse with over 13 years of nursing experience and more than three decades in the healthcare field. Before transitioning into nursing, she spent 20 years as a registered dental assistant, building a strong clinical foundation and a deep understanding of patient care. She earned her LVN from Kaplan College in Stockton and began her nursing career with experience at Kaiser Permanente in Stockton. Over the years, she has primarily focused on home health nursing, where she developed a reputation for delivering compassionate, patient-centered care and fostering meaningful connections with those she serves.
Currently, Delila serves at the VA Mather facility in Northern California, a specialized center that functions as the dermatology and Mohs surgery hub for VA systems across the region. In this role, she works with a wide range of complex cases, further strengthening her clinical expertise. Her core strengths include wound care, patient education, and building strong therapeutic relationships, all of which allow her to support patients in managing their conditions and improving long-term health outcomes. She is actively preparing to obtain her Wound Care Certification (WCC) to expand her knowledge and continue providing high-quality, specialized care.
Delila’s decision to work within the VA system is deeply personal and purpose-driven. Inspired by her father’s service as a veteran, she views her role as a meaningful way to give back to those who have served the country. Although she cannot serve in the military herself, she brings that same sense of duty and commitment to her work every day. Known for her empathy, dedication, and patient-first approach, Delila continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of veterans and the broader healthcare community.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about nursing is knowing that I get to educate patients on how they got into their situation and how they can prevent things in the future, and just watching them heal. In home health, the autonomy is fantastic - everything that happens in the home is my doing, so I've gained a lot of knowledge on what works and what doesn't by depending on my own nursing judgment without having someone stand over me telling me what to do. When a patient graduates, it's bittersweet, but just knowing that I actually did something good for that person and I'm probably not going to see them again because they know how to avoid needing me to come see them again - that's what it's all about. Basically, doing something for somebody that they don't know how to do themselves.
