David Dent, PharmD, MS

David Dent, PharmD, MS is a passionate health system pharmacy administration specialist dedicated to advancing the visibility, impact, and innovation of the pharmacy profession. A proud QuestBridge College Match Scholar, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a specialization in Biochemistry from the University of Virginia, before completing his Doctor of Pharmacy at the VCU School of Pharmacy. He went on to pursue a Master of Science in Health Administration while completing a competitive PGY1/PGY2 HSPAL residency at Virginia’s largest academic medical center—where he operated a 900+ bed, Level I trauma hospital pharmacy and supervised 50+ direct reports while serving as administrator on call.

David currently applies his clinical expertise as an inpatient pharmacist, where he is committed to doing “the right thing, for the right person, at the right time”—from preventing life-threatening medication errors to improving workflow, safety, and patient outcomes.

Beyond his clinical role, David is a well-known advocate for digital healthcare communication and storytelling. He is the founder of OVERxDOSE, a multimedia platform designed to educate, challenge stigmas, and make pharmacy more accessible—and enjoyable—to the public. He is also the co-founder of CREATORx, a growing collective supporting pharmacists and student pharmacists in expanding their digital content presence across social media.

As a contributor for The Lab at MedPage Today, David writes on pharmacy practice, mental health, advocacy, and healthcare policy, helping amplify critical issues and elevate pharmacist voices nationwide. His leadership, creativity, and mission-driven mindset continue to fuel projects that blend innovation, communication, and patient-centered care.

He is a champion for the future of pharmacy—leveraging expertise in medication therapy, health policy, and organizational leadership to build a stronger, more informed healthcare system for all.
