Darnequa Gordon, LPN
Darnequa Gordon is a dedicated psychiatric Licensed Practical Nurse with nine years of experience at Meadowood Hospital in Newcastle, Delaware, where she provides compassionate, comprehensive care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients facing alcohol and drug detoxification, behavioral health challenges, suicidal ideation, and complex mental health conditions such as schizophrenia. Known for her steady presence and empathetic approach, Darnequa is committed to supporting individuals at some of the lowest points in their lives, helping them stabilize, recover, and move toward sobriety and stability. Her work reflects both clinical skill and a deep sense of purpose rooted in service.
Her healthcare journey began at Howard High School’s technical program, where she trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She gained early experience in nursing homes and pediatric settings before earning her LPN license from Pennsylvania Institute in Media, Pennsylvania, in 2020. Currently, Darnequa is pursuing her Registered Nurse degree at Jersey College in Ewing, New Jersey, with an anticipated graduation in May 2026—all while maintaining a full-time work schedule. Inspired by her mother’s more than 20-year career in healthcare and motivated by the loss of her grandmother to lung cancer, she is driven by a desire to build a better future for her son and to continue advancing in the nursing profession.
Beyond her clinical role, Darnequa is also an entrepreneur and creative visionary. In January 2025, she founded Visionary Studios, a business specializing in party decorating and face painting, showcasing her artistic talent and passion for bringing joy to others. Looking ahead, she aspires to become an aesthetic nurse specializing in Botox treatments and ultimately open her own medical spa in Delaware. Recently achieving the milestone of purchasing her first home as an LPN, Darnequa exemplifies resilience, ambition, and a commitment to growth—both professionally and personally.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about being a nurse, especially working in a psych hospital, is helping people get back to normal and watching them get back sober. Being in the middle of their process is kind of an amazing thing to watch - like, somebody coming in and they're at their lowest of their lowest, and then they leave and they're back to normal and feeling better. I would just say, like, helping people, honestly. That's what keeps me going and what I love about this work.
