Daniela Yusufov-Kapila, APRN, FNP-BC, is an experienced orthopedic nurse practitioner based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with over a decade of clinical experience in Level I trauma centers across New York and Florida. She began her career in high-acuity perioperative environments, where she worked as a charge nurse, scrub nurse, and circulating nurse. This foundation allowed her to develop advanced expertise in orthopedic trauma care, including the surgical management of complex fractures, polytrauma cases, and acute musculoskeletal injuries.

During her time practicing in New York, Daniela expanded her surgical experience by working with vascular and plastic reconstructive surgery teams, including those specializing in breast oncology procedures. This exposure broadened her clinical skill set and strengthened her ability to manage complex surgical patients requiring multidisciplinary care. She credits her early training and mentorship in New York as instrumental in shaping her clinical judgment, adaptability, and ability to perform effectively in high-pressure surgical environments.

Following her relocation to Florida, Daniela continued to build her expertise in orthopedic trauma while also gaining significant experience in elective orthopedic procedures. This transition strengthened her proficiency across the full continuum of musculoskeletal care, from acute injury management to planned surgical interventions. Her diverse background enables her to deliver well-rounded, patient-centered orthopedic care tailored to a wide range of clinical needs.

Throughout her career, Daniela has demonstrated a strong commitment to education, leadership, and collaboration within multidisciplinary orthopedic teams. She has been actively involved in mentoring and precepting new graduate nurses in perioperative settings and has worked alongside specialized surgical teams, including those performing gender-affirming procedures. Her leadership and dedication to professional growth reflect her ongoing commitment to advancing nursing practice and improving patient outcomes.

Currently, Daniela practices in South Florida alongside Dr. Kristopher Chenard, MD, where she provides comprehensive orthopedic care for patients with trauma-related injuries, sports medicine conditions, and degenerative joint diseases, including total joint arthroplasty. She is passionate about restoring mobility, enhancing function, and improving long-term quality of life for patients of all ages. Double board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the ANCC and AANP, she is also fluent in Russian and conversational in Spanish, allowing her to serve a diverse patient population with cultural competence and compassion.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I am deeply passionate about orthopedics and the complexity of the musculoskeletal system. It is incredibly rewarding to witness patients recover from life-altering injuries and regain function, independence, and quality of life. I am particularly driven by the opportunity to support longevity in both active and geriatric populations, helping patients maintain their activities of daily living and continue participating in the sports and lifestyles they value. Practicing in South Florida, I care for a highly active and diverse patient population that is motivated to stay mobile and engaged. I take a collaborative, patient-centered approach, working closely with individuals to optimize outcomes, preserve function, and promote long-term musculoskeletal health.
