Chukwunwike (“Chike”) Okafor, MD
Dr. Chukwunwike “Chike” Okafor, MD, is a board-certified physician in both Sports Medicine and Family Medicine, based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. He currently practices at Golson Medical Associates, where he provides comprehensive care ranging from preventive health and chronic disease management to specialized sports medicine services. Passionate about patient empowerment, Dr. Okafor integrates musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, regenerative medicine, and injury prevention strategies into his practice, tailoring care to each patient’s unique needs.
A proud New Jersey native, Dr. Okafor earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed his Family Medicine residency at Montefiore Health System in the Bronx. He then pursued a Sports Medicine fellowship at Duke University, where he served as a team physician for collegiate athletes at Duke, Elon University, and North Carolina Central University. His dual training allows him to seamlessly bridge general medical care with advanced musculoskeletal and sports-focused interventions, including concussion management, arthritis care, and biomechanical/gait analysis.
Beyond clinical care, Dr. Okafor is dedicated to mentorship and community health initiatives, having volunteered internationally in Ghana to enhance sustainable healthcare practices. He emphasizes curiosity, attentive listening, and evidence-based care in his professional philosophy. Outside of medicine, he enjoys staying active through basketball and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, exploring new restaurants, and spending quality time with family and friends.
