Christopher Dixon
Christopher Dixon is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern and the owner of Changing Tides Counseling Services, LLC, based in Milton, Florida, where the practice is contracted with Santa Rosa Counseling Center. He has approximately four years of combined counseling experience, including internship, practicum, and professional clinical work, and has been practicing clinically since February of last year. A U.S. Navy veteran who served as a radio man on submarines aboard the USS Hampton, Christopher’s interest in counseling began during his military service, where fellow service members often sought him out for guidance and support.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Professional Education from the University of West Florida and completed Master’s-level training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Troy University. His graduate education also qualified him for school counseling licensure in Florida. Prior to establishing his private practice, Christopher worked in Santa Rosa County Public Schools as a behavioral coach, language arts teacher, and school counselor, primarily serving Title I schools and supporting underserved student populations facing academic, behavioral, and socioeconomic challenges.
Christopher specializes in working with adolescents and young adults using a pragmatic, solution-focused approach grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy. His therapeutic style is direct and accountability-driven, emphasizing practical action steps and real-world application over prolonged problem-focused processing. He provides both telehealth and in-person services throughout Florida and continues to advance his clinical expertise, with plans to pursue additional certifications in grief counseling and ultimately a PsyD.
