Christine C, Thron, MS, LCPC
Dr. Christine C. Thron, MS, LCPC, is the founder of Thron Counseling and Wellness, which she established in 2021. Based in Boyds, Maryland, she provides therapy primarily through virtual sessions, while also seeing select clients in person. With approximately 16 years of experience in the field, Dr. Thron works with individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of ages and concerns. She values working with diverse populations, appreciating the uniqueness of each client’s story and background. Her approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing largely from person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy, and she tailors her work to meet each client’s specific needs and goals.
As a Christian counselor, Dr. Thron thoughtfully integrates spirituality into the therapeutic process in whatever way clients feel comfortable. She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and plans to expand her outreach through Focus on the Family. At the heart of her practice is a deep love for people. She believes every individual has a meaningful story shaped by where they have come from and what they have endured. When clients come to therapy feeling depleted and in need, she sees it as a sacred responsibility to give them her full presence — listening without agenda, creating space for healing, and walking alongside them in their suffering.
Counseling is Dr. Thron’s second career and one she believes she was truly made for. After earning her psychology degree, she devoted years to raising and homeschooling her five children before returning to school to pursue counseling professionally. She describes her work as a calling — a giftedness that reflects the way she believes God created her. Deeply fulfilled by the opportunity to serve others, Dr. Thron considers it both a privilege and a joy to help clients find hope, clarity, and renewed strength in their lives.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I really love people. Everyone has a story, and they're just interesting - the places they've come from, the things that they've been through. I love to just listen and appreciate people for who they are and where they are. When people come to therapy, they've probably tried all the resources that they know, and they come so needy. You're 100% fully focused on them when they come to your office, and how often does that happen? There's no agenda other than to listen to them and to try to help them feel better. I think that's very powerful when you can just listen to someone, to be present with people in their suffering. Working with couples is especially rewarding because the stakes are so high. When families collapse, there's just so much collateral damage with it. To help people remember why they married that person, and the value of their family, and that it's worth saving - it's really important work.
