Chizoba Ugwummadu, MD, MSc, MS-HQSM, FACP

Dr. Chizoba Ugwummadu, MD, MS-HQSM, FACP, is the Regional Quality Director for Hospital Medicine at US Acute Care Solutions/Mercy Health. With extensive experience as a hospitalist and healthcare quality expert, he focuses on improving patient safety, quality performance, and value-based care outcomes across multiple hospital systems. His leadership has guided initiatives in sepsis management, throughput improvement, reduction of inappropriate antibiotic use, and surgical site infection prevention, earning national recognition for innovation in healthcare quality.

Born and raised in Nigeria, Dr. Ugwummadu earned his medical degree from the University of Lagos, a master’s in health promotion from King’s College London, and a master’s in healthcare quality and safety management from Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus, and has held multiple academic appointments, including adjunct clinical associate professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin and adjunct instructor at Thomas Jefferson University. Throughout his career spanning three continents, he has partnered with hospitals to advance quality initiatives and drive measurable improvements in patient care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ugwummadu enjoys staying active with his family. He loves running with his wife, playing soccer with his children, and traveling. His dedication to both professional excellence and family life reflects his commitment to fostering wellness, balance, and meaningful impact both inside and outside the hospital.
