Charla E. Adams, J.D., LPC, NCC, CMHIMP
Charla E. Adams is the owner and director of Brugmansia Counseling Group, where she is dedicated to creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore personal growth and healing. Her counseling approach is client-centered, combining traditional talk therapy with experiential techniques to help individuals regain focus, develop coping strategies, and reconnect with their true selves. As a Certified Heart-Centered Hypnotherapist and trained practitioner in EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Charla provides specialized therapeutic methods tailored to each client’s unique needs.
In addition to her work as a counselor, Charla is a licensed Michigan attorney, bringing a distinct perspective to her practice that supports clients navigating legal challenges. She views therapy as a collaborative process and emphasizes empowering clients to find their own solutions and achieve their personal goals. Charla’s holistic approach also allows for optional exploration of spiritual needs, offering flexibility and respect for individual preferences. Her commitment to mental health extends beyond the counseling office through her writing and hosting of the Brugmansia Podcast, where she shares insights on personal growth, healing, and mental well-being.
Charla’s professional journey is grounded in a strong educational foundation, including a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University, a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and a B.A. in Criminal Justice/Criminology. She holds multiple certifications and professional affiliations, including the CMHIMP designation, membership in the American Counseling Association (ACA), and participation in Postpartum Support International programs.
