Dr. Catherine Healy Sharbaugh, DNP, FNP, GNP, B-C, FNYAM, FRCSI, is an accomplished nurse leader, educator, and clinician with decades of experience advancing nursing education, clinical excellence, and professional practice. She currently serves as Dean of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer at the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing, where she is also a tenure-track Research Assistant Professor of Nursing in undergraduate and graduate programs. In this role, Dr. Healy-Sharbaugh provides strategic leadership and oversight for all academic, administrative, and clinical components of the nursing program, ensuring the highest standards of nursing education and practice while preparing future generations of exceptional nurses.

Dr. Healy-Sharbaugh holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Villanova University, a Master of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in Gerontology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University. She is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, licensed in New York and Pennsylvania, with ANCC certification and extensive experience delivering comprehensive primary care across diverse populations, including older adults.

Her academic career spans multiple prestigious institutions, including Lehman College (CUNY), Pace University, Widener University, and Teachers College, Columbia University, where she has served as professor, adjunct faculty, clinical educator, and doctoral preceptor. Dr. Healy-Sharbaugh is recognized for her mentorship of doctoral nursing students, particularly in guiding quality improvement and practice-focused research projects. In parallel with her academic roles, she has practiced clinically as a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Family Nurse Practitioner at the New York Medical College Family Health Clinic, providing primary care services to faculty, students, staff, and community members.

Beyond academia and clinical practice, Dr. Healy-Sharbaugh has demonstrated national leadership through her work as a Surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for over a decade, evaluating and improving ambulatory health care facilities across the country. She is also an active Board Member of the New York Nurse Practitioner Association, serving as Manhattan Educational Coordinator, where she organizes and leads professional educational programming to advance nurse practitioner practice and continuing education.

Dr. Healy-Sharbaugh’s contributions have been widely recognized through numerous awards and honors, including the 2025 USAF 318th RCS Honorary Commander, the 2025 Nurse’s Touch Award at the ATI National Nurse Educator Summit, the 2024 Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurse Educator, and prestigious fellowships with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery and the New York Academy of Medicine. She is a frequent national and international speaker on topics such as nursing education innovation, NCLEX success strategies, artificial intelligence in nursing practice, infectious disease, and pandemic response, and is a proud member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
