Catherine Hamilton, RN, MSN
Catherine Hamilton, RN, MSN, is an accomplished acute care and hospice nurse and the founder of Residential Remakes, a pioneering nursing-led senior placement agency dedicated to elevating safety, dignity, and accountability in elderly care communities. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing with specialized training in Clinical Nurse Leadership from the University of San Francisco, bringing advanced expertise in clinical systems, leadership, and quality of care. Catherine has over 14 years of acute care experience and has served as a compassionate, highly respected hospice nurse since 2013.
Throughout her hospice career, Catherine conducted thousands of patient visits in both large, assisted living communities and small six-bed residential care homes. These experiences revealed critical gaps in the quality and safety of elderly care, including unexplained bruising, improper handling, and inconsistent staff training. She collaborated with social workers and reported concerns to Adult Protective Services, ensuring patient safety and highlighting the need for systemic reform.
Catherine also observed the impact of language and cultural environments on seniors, particularly those with dementia or Alzheimer’s. In many facilities, staff-to-staff communication occurred in languages unfamiliar to residents, causing confusion, agitation, and emotional distress. She recognized that seniors’ emotional well-being is deeply affected by these subtle yet significant environmental factors, further reinforcing the need for culturally sensitive care.
Motivated to address these gaps, Catherine founded Residential Remakes, the first placement agency in her region built entirely on nursing expertise, clinical oversight, and long-term patient monitoring. Through this model, every initial assessment and placement is performed by licensed nurses, follow-up visits monitor safety and emotional well-being, and caregivers receive education on best practices in elder care. Catherine now leads advocacy efforts for statewide reform, promoting licensing standards and clinical requirements for residential care administrators and placement advisors, ensuring that every senior receives safe, compassionate, and accountable care.
