Cassandra D. Griffin

Cassandra Griffin is a highly experienced Perioperative Nurse Educator and dedicated nursing educator, recognized for her ability to seamlessly integrate clinical expertise with academic instruction. She currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at Wayne County Community College District and previously held a part-time faculty position at Arizona College of Nursing, where she developed and delivered nursing curricula, guided students through complex clinical concepts, and fostered critical thinking and professional growth. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient safety, and preparing the next generation of nurses to excel in diverse healthcare settings.

In addition to her academic contributions, Cassandra has over 18 years of clinical experience at Detroit Medical Center, where she designs and implements perioperative protocols, mentors surgical staff, and ensures the highest standards of patient care across multiple specialties. Prior to this, she served as a Perioperative Nurse Educator/CNS at Crittenton Hospital/Specialty Care, where she honed her skills in surgical nursing, staff development, and patient-centered care. Her career reflects a unique blend of academic leadership and clinical proficiency, enabling her to positively impact both the healthcare workforce and patient outcomes.

Cassandra earned her Bachelor’s degree (1998) and Master’s degree (2000) in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Health Care Administration, further advancing her expertise in healthcare leadership and management. Among her notable professional achievements, she was nominated in 2015 as Top Certified Nurse in Hospital at Detroit Medical Center. Cassandra also holds certifications from the CITI Program in social and behavioral research and has demonstrated expertise in hiring, mentorship, and organizing job fairs. Her dedication to advancing nursing practice and education continues to make a meaningful impact on students, colleagues, and patients alike.
