Carolyn Miller, RN

Carolyn Miller is a highly experienced registered nurse with nearly four decades of practice, specializing in psychiatric and home health care. Throughout her career, she has been committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals with complex physical and mental health needs. Her approach emphasizes independence, recovery, and hands-on support, helping patients actively participate in their own care and re-engage with their communities.

Miller received her nursing education at Butler County School of Nursing in Ohio and Mount Hood Community College in Oregon. Early in her career, she discovered a natural aptitude for mental health nursing, working with patients experiencing psychotic disorders, dual diagnoses, and other psychiatric conditions. These experiences helped shape her professional focus and inspired a lifelong commitment to mental health care.

For much of her career, Miller has worked in group-home settings, providing care for individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, cerebral palsy, and other chronic conditions. She also has over eight years of experience as a home health nurse with Community Health Services, conducting in-home patient assessments, managing tube feedings, coordinating medical appointments, and ensuring continuity of care. These roles required exceptional clinical judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to manage challenging behaviors while maintaining patient dignity and safety.

A strong advocate for patient education, Miller has devoted significant time to teaching patients and caregivers essential skills, including diabetes management, catheterizations, tube feedings, irrigations, and wound care. Her dedication to education empowers patients to take an active role in their health and fosters greater independence and confidence in managing their conditions.

Miller is an active member of the Oregon Nurses Association and continues to demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, patient advocacy, and excellence in nursing practice. Following a period of recovery from an accident, she is actively seeking opportunities in psychiatric nursing and home health, bringing her extensive experience, compassionate care, and clinical expertise to support vulnerable patients across Oregon.
