Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about nursing is seeing the impact on patient care and knowing that I'm making a real difference. My goal with quality assurance is bridging the gap - I really want patients to get the quality care that we say we give, and I want to see it happening. When I don't see it happening, that's my goal to intervene, making sure providers are doing their due diligence by the patients and ensuring insurance companies aren't denying our patients things that they need. I fight the fight so patients can get services that are important towards their care. When I can see the return on investment - when I see patients are appreciative, I see them getting better, I see them reaching their goals - that is impactful for me. That is what keeps me going, and I see it every day. You don't need a thank you to still see the result, and when I get a thank you, that just hits home even more. But it is so nice to see progress and see that patients are getting what they need. I just wish we could do it across the board more often.
