Brandi L. Darby, MSN, APRN, FNP-C is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner based in West Columbia, South Carolina, committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. With nearly 20 years of nursing experience across elementary schools, rehabilitation, intensive and critical care, medical-surgical, postsurgical, and behavioral health settings, Brandi brings extensive clinical knowledge to every patient interaction. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain University, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington, and began her nursing career with an associate degree from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintains active professional memberships with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Neurology. Brandi currently practices with Lexington Neurology, where she specializes in the evaluation, monitoring, prevention, and treatment of cognitive and general neurological disorders. She is skilled in managing both acute and chronic neurological conditions, emphasizing comprehensive assessments and evidence-based treatment plans. What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the privilege of walking with people through some of the most vulnerable and uncertain moments of their lives. Healthcare is one of the few professions where scientific reasoning and human connection are inseparable. I value the responsibility of interpreting complex clinical information, forming a clear plan, and then translating that plan into language patients can understand and trust.
Equally important to me is education. As both a clinician and anatomy instructor, I enjoy helping patients and students understand the “why” behind what is happening in the body. Empowering people with knowledge improves adherence, outcomes, and confidence. When patients understand their condition, they become active participants in their care rather than passive recipients.
Ultimately, what I value most is impact—improving quality of life, preventing avoidable complications, and supporting long-term wellness. Medicine allows me to combine critical thinking, compassion, and teaching in a way that feels purposeful every day.
