Blakeley LeBeau, NP
Blakeley Lebeau, NP, is a nurse practitioner in the emergency department at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where she cares for a diverse patient population that includes approximately 60 percent teens and 40 percent adults. After graduating from nursing school in 2017, Lebeau began her career in emergency medicine, drawn to the fast-paced environment and the opportunity to make an immediate difference in patients’ lives. She later advanced her education and has been practicing as a nurse practitioner for the past two years, continuing to serve patients in the dynamic setting of emergency care.
Earlier in her career, Lebeau worked in a Well Baby Nursery, where she witnessed the joy of families welcoming newborns into the world. While the experience was deeply rewarding, she found herself seeking a role that offered greater variety and the chance to utilize more advanced clinical skills. Returning to emergency medicine allowed her to embrace the unpredictable nature of the field, where every shift presents new challenges and opportunities to learn. From caring for children with chronic conditions to treating patients who come in with illnesses like the flu when they cannot access their primary care provider, Lebeau values the wide range of cases that make each day unique.
Lebeau thrives in what she describes as the “organized chaos” of the emergency room. She enjoys the constant learning that comes with the role and is particularly interested in expanding her knowledge of caring for mothers in early pregnancy, especially before the 20-week mark. With her background in neonatal care and her passion for emergency medicine, she continues to grow as a clinician while providing compassionate care during critical moments. For Lebeau, the ever-changing environment of the emergency department is exactly where she feels most energized, challenged, and able to make a meaningful impact.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I really like the variety and unpredictability of emergency medicine. I don't really like repetition, so the fact that it's different from room to room is what I enjoy. We bounce around from chronic kids that we take care of to kids coming in for the flu because they can't get in with their primary care provider. I like organized chaos, and that's a kind of field where I thrive. Right now, I'm particularly loving what I'm learning about mothers who are expecting before 20 weeks. I did well baby nursery, so I was a little bit familiar with it, but more the baby side of it. When they're pregnant, it's just a whole new system, and there's so much to learn. It's exciting, and I literally learn something new every single day.
