Ashley Scott, LPN
Ashley Scott, LPN, is a licensed practical nurse, published author, and advocate whose work bridges the worlds of caregiving, creativity, and reform. With nearly two decades of experience across skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, acute care, and home health, Ashley has built a reputation as a compassionate clinician and a fearless voice for equity and dignity in healthcare. She draws on her dual identity as both caregiver and patient—an epilepsy warrior—to illuminate the human stories too often lost within clinical systems. Throughout her career, Ashley has stood at the intersection of compassion and advocacy, using her platform to challenge systemic barriers such as burnout, unsafe staffing, and inequitable treatment of nurses. Her ability to merge lived experience with professional insight has positioned her as a powerful voice for trauma-informed care and patient safety. Beyond the bedside, Ashley extends her impact through writing, poetry, and public speaking, transforming the struggles of healthcare professionals into messages of resilience and change. As the founder of Rising Embers LLC, Ashley turns her advocacy into art—where poetry becomes music, and survival becomes song. Her works, including The Pinning: A Nursing Revolution, Ashes Ashes They All Fall Down, and The Healthcare Mafia co-authored by Kimberly Maurer, reflect her mission to ignite dialogue and healing through creative expression. Whether through her writing, music, or nursing practice, Ashley remains deeply committed to redefining what it means to care—with courage, compassion, and unflinching truth.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about nursing is the opportunity to care for others and make a meaningful impact, whether through hands-on care, education, or advocacy. My work has evolved over the years, but my passion remains the same—helping people heal, feel heard, and find strength in their own stories. I also find deep fulfillment in using creativity and art as tools for connection and healing within the healthcare community.
