Andrew (Drew) Zinkel, MD, MBA

Andrew (Drew) Zinkel, MD, MBA, is a physician executive, entrepreneur, and educator with a unique blend of clinical expertise and business acumen. As an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Drew teaches medical students, residents, and fellows while mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders. He founded and directs the first fellowship in medical quality management and patient safety within emergency medicine, developing curricula that advance patient care and research in healthcare quality. Beyond the classroom, Drew serves as a Faculty Senator, shaping policy and fostering collaboration across the University of Minnesota’s schools and departments.
In addition to his academic work, Drew is deeply engaged in healthcare innovation and venture leadership. As the Founder and CEO of Accelerance Healthcare Advising and a Venture Partner at NextGen Venture Partners, he advises startups on strategy, scaling, and innovation in clinical practice, medical devices, digital healthcare, and population health. His business expertise is complemented by executive education from Columbia Business School and MIT Sloan, allowing him to bridge the worlds of medicine, entrepreneurship, and venture capital. Drew’s work emphasizes translating complex clinical insights into actionable business and operational strategies that improve healthcare delivery.
Outside of medicine and business, Drew is a passionate advocate for arts and culture. He serves as Medical Director for the Guthrie Theater, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Children’s Museum, and engages in multiple nonprofit arts organizations. Through these roles, he explores the intersection of art and medicine, developing innovative curricula that connect leadership, creativity, and patient care. His multidisciplinary approach, spanning clinical excellence, healthcare innovation, and cultural engagement, positions Drew as a visionary leader committed to advancing health, education, and community impact.
