Amy Stern, APRN
Amy is an experienced nurse practitioner whose career has been rooted in compassionate, patient-centered care for older adults and medically complex populations. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, before completing an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Chicago. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Adult Nursing with an emphasis in geriatrics from Rush University. Her academic training laid a strong foundation for a career focused on adult medicine, chronic illness management, and improving quality of life.
Amy began her clinical career as a registered nurse at Rush University Medical Center, working in inpatient oncology. Although she briefly explored pediatric intensive care, she quickly recognized her passion was in adult and geriatric medicine. Over the next two decades, she primarily served residents in assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, and private homes, providing primary care and symptom management to vulnerable populations. Her work centered on meeting patients where they were—both physically and emotionally—ensuring they received thoughtful, consistent care in settings that often lacked adequate medical access.
Her final clinical role brought a unique dimension to her experience, partnering with an interventional spinal pain specialist in Bradenton, Florida. In that position, Amy conducted initial evaluations and follow-up care for patients undergoing procedures such as spinal blocks, nerve blocks, and spinal cord stimulator treatments. Throughout her 20-year career, what consistently drove her was a genuine love for people and a deep desire to help them maintain dignity and quality of life. While she ultimately stepped away from practice in 2019 due to health challenges, her work reflects a career defined by empathy, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others—even in the face of burnout and the emotional weight of caring for those with limited quality of life.
