Amie Walker-Black, RN, BSN

Amie Walker-Black, RN, BSN, has built a distinguished nursing career rooted in service, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to caring for others. Inspired at an early age by her father’s experience living with paralysis, Amie felt a clear calling to healthcare that has guided her professional journey for decades. She began her career in 1989 as a certified nursing assistant, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in patient care before advancing into roles as a medical assistant and later as an instructor in EKG and phlebotomy, blending clinical expertise with a passion for education.

Currently, Amie serves as an employee health nurse, a role she has held for six years, where she oversees the health and safety needs of approximately 1,200 employees. Her responsibilities include managing vaccinations and immunization records, coordinating pre-employment health screenings, overseeing workers’ compensation cases, and collaborating with occupational health teams on physical examinations and drug screenings. She also conducts environmental rounds to promote workplace safety and compliance, ensuring both employees and organizations are supported through thoughtful, proactive care.

Amie holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capella University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida, an academic combination that allows her to approach care with both clinical skill and psychological insight. A recipient of the DAISY Award, she is recognized for her compassion, professionalism, and ability to provide reassurance in challenging situations. Outside of work, Amie draws strength from her faith, enjoys traveling with her sister, and lives with deep gratitude shaped by surviving cancer multiple times—an outlook that infuses her work with empathy, purpose, and unwavering dedication to the wellbeing of others.
