Amanda Wollmuth, FNP
Amanda Wollmuth is a Family Nurse Practitioner with 18 years of nursing experience, primarily in intensive care settings. She earned her Master’s degree in Family Practice Nursing from Maryville University of Saint Louis after beginning her career as a registered nurse following her BSN from Truman State University in Missouri. Raised in a family of nurses, she describes her entry into the profession as a natural calling and lifelong commitment to patient care.
Throughout her nursing career, Amanda developed a strong clinical foundation in critical care before transitioning into advanced practice nursing. This experience shaped her understanding of chronic illness management, complex patient needs, and the limitations many patients face within traditional healthcare systems. Motivated by these insights, she pursued her Nurse Practitioner training with a focus on creating more individualized and patient-centered approaches to care.
In 2025, Amanda founded Glorious Roots, a private practice based in a rural community outside of Bismarck, North Dakota, specializing in functional medicine. Her practice emphasizes lifestyle-based interventions, patient education, and collaborative decision-making, with a focus on reducing or carefully tapering medications when appropriate. She supports patients managing chronic conditions, mental health concerns, and overall wellness by addressing root causes and encouraging sustainable, healthy lifestyle changes tailored to each individual.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing functional medicine is helping patients take meaningful control of their health and reduce reliance on medications when appropriate. I work with individuals managing chronic health conditions, middle-aged and older adults, as well as younger patients seeking safe pathways to reduce or discontinue mental health medications. A significant part of my work involves developing individualized, step-down plans and supporting patients in replacing medications with sustainable lifestyle and behavioral changes. I believe many health challenges are deeply connected to loneliness, stress, and a lack of coping mechanisms, which often manifest physically in the body. My goal is to address these root causes while empowering patients to make informed, autonomous healthcare decisions in a supportive environment.
