Throughout her 39-year nursing career, she has dedicated herself to serving populations most in need of compassionate, patient-centered care. Her primary areas of expertise are hospice and home care, and she has been a certified hospice nurse since 2000. Dr. Murray spent many years working in home care and hospice before transitioning to academia. She began her career as an ICU cardiac respiratory nurse in a small community hospital and has contributed to major program development initiatives, including hospice and palliative care services, chronic illness management programs, and the opening of a diagnostic cardiac catheterization laboratory. Dr. Murray began teaching clinical nursing courses in 2011 and accepted a full-time faculty role at Husson University in 2017. By 2024, she advanced to Associate Professor and now leads graduate nursing programs while teaching population health, evidence based practice and informatics at the master’s levels. Her instructional focus also includes gerontology and exam preparation, preparing students for professional practice and certification success. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Population Health from Quinnipiac University and a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Saint Joseph's College, bringing a strong foundation in clinical expertise and academic leadership to her role. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Murray is actively engaged in professional and community service. She has participated in statewide palliative care messaging initiatives across Maine, delivering formal and informal presentations throughout 2024 and 2025 to advance understanding of compassionate end-of-life care. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center, Northern Light Health, Maine Hospice Council Inc, and Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Driven by a commitment to rural healthcare access and dignity in end-of-life care, she remains dedicated to ensuring that patients and families receive compassionate, equitable care and that future nurses are prepared to serve their communities with excellence.
