Alexis Lee, ASCP, HT is an accomplished anatomical pathology supervisor whose career reflects a deep commitment to scientific excellence and patient care. Beginning her journey in 2009, Alexis entered the field of pathology with a focus on grossing—meticulously preparing and analyzing tissue samples—which became the foundation of her expertise. Her early fascination with science, from Egyptology to forensic science, eventually evolved into a passion for biology and laboratory medicine, providing a hands-on, investigative approach to healthcare that directly impacts patient outcomes.
Currently, Alexis serves as the Anatomical Pathology Supervisor at PeaceHealth Southwest Hospital in Vancouver, Washington. In this role, she oversees four key laboratory areas, balancing administrative coordination, staff supervision, and operational oversight while maintaining high standards for quality and efficiency. Her leadership fosters a supportive, thriving environment for her team, emphasizing mentorship, workflow optimization, and adherence to clinical and laboratory best practices. Throughout her career, Alexis has also demonstrated resilience and dedication, advancing her professional credentials while managing full-time work, family responsibilities, and rigorous certification programs.
Alexis’s educational path reflects both ambition and adaptability. She earned a pre-medical Bachelor of Science in Biology from Valdosta State University, followed by a histotechnologist certification program through Albany State University and national ASCP certification, with additional state licensure in California and New York. Her experience spans clinical laboratories in podiatry and anatomical pathology, where she advanced into leadership roles and observed the profound impact of mentorship and supportive workplace culture. Recently relocating from Georgia to Washington, Alexis continues to champion the essential contributions of laboratory professionals, highlighting a fulfilling alternative path in medicine for those drawn to scientific investigation and patient care.
