Alexa Kaplan, LMSW, is a psychotherapist at the Karen Horney Clinic in New York City, where she provides individualized, psychodynamically informed care to clients managing a range of emotional and psychological challenges. Before assuming her current role, Alexa gained comprehensive clinical experience through internships at Gracie Square Hospital and the Bowery Residents’ Committee, where she served as a Clinical Social Work Intern. In these positions, she worked with diverse populations facing complex behavioral health and social service needs, further strengthening her skills in assessment, crisis intervention, and patient advocacy. Alexa also has a background in research and health analysis, having previously served as a Life Sciences Analyst at GQR Global Markets and a Researcher at the Yale School of Public Health. These interdisciplinary experiences inform her holistic understanding of mental health, ethics, and the human condition.

Alexa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business of Health Care and Bioethics from NYU Gallatin, graduating cum laude, and her Master of Social Work (MSW) in Clinical Psychology from the NYU Silver School of Social Work. Her academic and professional pursuits reflect a deep commitment to ethical, compassionate care and to bridging the gap between science, humanity, and psychoanalytic thought. Beyond her clinical work, Alexa is the Co-Founder of Slide Lacrosse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches underserved youth communication and leadership skills through the sport of lacrosse.
