Ajit Monteiro, MD FAAP
Ajit Monteiro, MD, FAAP is a certified pediatrician practicing with Children’s Medical Group in the Hudson Valley region of New York, serving patients primarily in Highland and Kingston. With a strong commitment to pediatric care, Dr. Monteiro provides comprehensive services for newborns, infants, and children, emphasizing preventative health, chronic condition management, and family-centered care. Dr. Monteiro earned his medical degree from MGM Medical College and Hospital in Aurangabad, India, before completing a year-long research fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University at Buffalo. He then completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where he gained extensive experience in clinical care, acute management, and patient-family communication. Early in his career, Dr. Monteiro worked in high-pressure clinical environments, including COVID-19 ICUs at Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre and the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. These formative experiences enhanced his clinical judgment, adaptability, and ability to manage complex pediatric and adult medical scenarios. Dr. Monteiro’s professional focus includes fostering long-term relationships with children and their families, community outreach, and integrating quality improvement and global health perspectives into his clinical practice. He is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment where families feel supported and informed throughout their child’s healthcare journey. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, and Indian Medical Association. Dr. Monteiro also holds certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Monteiro has contributed to research, including publications in the International Journal of Science and Research, and remains engaged in community service, having volunteered with Sainathji Public Charitable Trust. Fluent in English and Hindi, he brings both clinical expertise and cultural sensitivity to his practice.
