Cameron M. Schroeder, O.D.
Dr. Cameron Schroeder, O.D., is a Doctor of Optometry at Eye Center South in Dothan, Alabama, where he provides comprehensive medical and routine eye care within a high-volume OD/MD referral practice. Dedicated to advancing patient vision and ocular health, Dr. Schroeder specializes in the diagnosis and management of complex eye conditions, including glaucoma, retinal disease, diabetic eye disease, dry eye disease, corneal disorders, cataracts, and neuro-ophthalmic conditions. His approach emphasizes evidence-based treatment, patient education, and close collaboration with ophthalmology specialists to deliver personalized and coordinated care.
Dr. Schroeder earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri–St. Louis College of Optometry in 2025. Prior to pursuing optometry, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Western Illinois University, with minors in Chemistry and Psychology, and earned an Associate of Science degree from Indian Hills Community College. His strong academic foundation in the sciences has supported his clinical expertise and commitment to understanding the complex relationship between ocular health and overall patient wellness.
Throughout his clinical training, Dr. Schroeder gained experience across diverse healthcare settings, including the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Indian Health Services in Oklahoma, Carondelet Family Health Center, and private practice clinical rotations. These experiences strengthened his skills in diagnosing and managing a wide range of ocular conditions while caring for patients with varying medical backgrounds. He is proficient in advanced diagnostic technologies, including optical coherence tomography (OCT), Humphrey Visual Field testing, fundus photography, corneal topography, pachymetry, and gonioscopy.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Schroeder has contributed to optometric research and professional education. He served as a co-author and presenter at the Heart of America Conference in February 2024, where he presented research on “The Predictive Value of Pinhole Testing in Spectacle Prescriptions,” exploring the role of pinhole testing in improving spectacle prescription outcomes. He has also demonstrated a commitment to community service through his involvement with Student Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity (SVOSH), providing comprehensive eye examinations to underserved pediatric populations through outreach clinics in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Schroeder is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry, Alabama Optometric Association, and Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. During his optometric education, he served as a Student Ambassador for the University of Missouri–St. Louis College of Optometry, reflecting his dedication to leadership and service within the profession.
