What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing behavioral health is witnessing measurable change—seeing clients develop emotional regulation, reduce their risk of relapse, and reclaim their function in daily life through the identification of core values, emotional regulation, and Humor. I value translating evidence into practical skills, tailoring interventions to a person’s context, and collaborating across systems (medical, legal, school, residential) to remove barriers to care. Informed by my lived experience with substance use recovery and cancer survivorship, I find meaning in meeting clients exactly where they are, building safety and trust, and guiding them toward durable outcomes in grief work, co-occurring substance use, and mental health diagnoses.
