Bel Air at Teravista
Georgetown, TX 78628

Noel Gutierrez is a physical therapist based in the Austin, Texas metropolitan area, currently working with Bel Air at Teravista through Pivot Rehab. He has been practicing since 1999, when he graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas as part of one of the last bachelor’s cohorts in physical therapy. Today, he serves in a primarily long-term care and outpatient rehabilitation setting, supporting patients with complex rehabilitation needs in skilled nursing environments.

He began his career in sports medicine, working in outpatient orthopedic settings and physician clinics across the Austin area, including Round Rock and Georgetown. Early in his professional journey, he also became involved in wound care and burn care in Dallas and the Austin region, contributing to the introduction of vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) therapy across multiple facilities. Over time, his clinical focus shifted toward long-term care, where he has spent the majority of the past decade helping older adults improve mobility, recovery outcomes, and quality of life.

Before entering the healthcare field, he spent 18 years working as a mail carrier in Fort Worth, Texas, before returning to school to pursue physical therapy. In addition to his clinical work, he has explored functional medicine through coursework at Functional Medicine University and personal health practices, including nutrition and regenerative wellness approaches. Now partially retired, he continues to practice part-time while maintaining a strong interest in integrative and functional approaches to patient care, combining decades of hands-on experience with a patient-centered philosophy.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I started to like seeing the little grandmas and grandpas in long-term care. The feedback you get and the job gratification you get from that is wonderful. It's really rewarding to work with elderly patients and see the positive impact you can make in their lives. That's what drew me into long-term care and kept me there for the last 10 to 15 years.
